Senior Services Plus is a non-profit organization that provides many services to senior citizens. Some of the services we offer are meals on wheels, bus transportation, homemaker services, Foster Grandparent Program and our newly remodeled dining room for our café.
The team lead provided the following summary:
Senior Services Plus depends highly on an Access database to manage both their employees and the clients they serve. In order to make the data entry effort easier and more accurate, we completed the following tasks:
· Modified existing Access forms to use dropdown lists to improve data integrity
· Added Age calculation function and some validation logic
· Added several tables and form fields to hold more complex data
· Added new Access forms to allow users to easily modify reference data (hospitals, counties, medical diagnoses, etc.)
· Compacted the database to improve performance
· Made them aware of some helpful Access features
Additionally, Senior Services Plus is responsible for entering and extracting data from an application shared by other area charity organizations. Frequent extraction of the data was a painful and lengthy process. We automated this process by accomplishing the following tasks:
· Created custom reports in a proprietary tool
· Extended an Excel spreadsheet to merge the output of several reports into a mail merge
· Documentation and training on how to use the automated Excel sheet and how to create a Word mail merge
